Under the patronage of Dr. Tamer Samir, President of the University, and as part of Benha National University's commitment to enhancing the practical and applied aspects of its students’ education, as well as fostering fruitful cooperation between the university and the leadership of the Popular Defense and Military Forces, the university organized a scientific visit for Veterinary Medicine students to the Armed Forces Veterinary Hospital. The visit aimed to introduce students to the latest equipment and technologies used in the field of veterinary medicine and provide them with hands-on experience by observing various diagnostic and treatment mechanisms.
In this context, Dr. Hussein Al-Maghraby, Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs, emphasized the importance of such scientific visits in strengthening the practical skills of students. He pointed out that these activities significantly contribute to enhancing students’ competencies and preparing them for the job market. He added that the university is keen to strengthen cooperation with both military and civilian institutions to provide outstanding training and educational opportunities for its students.
The student delegation was accompanied by Dr. Ayman Samir, Director of the Veterinary Medicine Programs. The visit included several specialized units and laboratories within the hospital. The students toured the X-Ray unit, where they learned about the latest radiographic imaging techniques used in diagnosing animal diseases. They also visited the endoscopy unit, which enables precise examinations of various medical conditions, and the ophthalmology unit, where they were introduced to diagnostic and treatment methods for eye diseases in animals.
The tour also included a visit to the PCR laboratory, which is used for the accurate detection of viral and bacterial diseases. Additionally, the students observed the surgical operating rooms and diagnostic radiology units, gaining insights into the latest surgical intervention methods and modern diagnostic imaging technologies. They also explored the post-surgical care procedures in the recovery room.
Moreover, the students visited the Reference Laboratory for Artificial Insemination, Embryo Transfer, and Preservation, one of the leading research centers specializing in animal breed improvement and preserving the original Arabian horse genes. The visit concluded with a tour of the horse quarantine unit, where students learned about medical care and treatment procedures for horses, as well as the significance of this unit in providing essential veterinary services to maintain the health of horses used in various fields.
This visit aligns with Benha National University's strategy to support educational processes and enhance students’ practical skills, in line with Egypt’s Vision 2030, which aims to achieve academic and research excellence.
